Last September 15 saw the opening of the Australia-based coffee brand Toby’s Estate’s Philippine headquarters, currently the largest of its branches spread across Metro Manila, at Whitespace along Chino Roces Extension. Company founder Toby Smith personally attended the headquarters’ opening, and oversaw a range of activities throughout the day that anticipated the branch’s vision of becoming a hub for the local community and for coffee enthusiasts.
The launch, which was hosted by JJ Yulo, began with a tour of the branch’s roasting facility, where Master Roaster Alvaro Sanchez gave a comprehensive demonstration of the brand’s preferred roasting process. Over lunch, Smith invited guests to participate in a cupping session. Later in the evening, fellow café owners, baristas, and coffee enthusiasts gathered in the branch to participate in a Latte Art Throwdown judged by Mike Canlas, Ernie Mesina, and Smith himself.
The headquarters accommodates the brand’s main office in Manila, a café, and a roasting facility, where the brand hopes to host regular cupping sessions and coffee workshops in the near future. It is the sixth Toby’s Estate branch to open in Metro Manila. The brand expressed plans to expand further with branches in Legaspi Village, Greenhills, EDSA Shangri-La, and Shangri-La BGC.
