To celebrate its 75th year as the country’s most beloved book and office supplies chain, National Book Store has unveiled seven limited edition holiday collaborations in partnership with some of the country’s most prominent design influencers. From bag designer Amina Aranaz Alunan’s tropical-inspired desk organizers to TV personality Daphne Osmena Paez’s lush floral journals, each collection has been carefully curated to capture its creator’s distinct point-of-view and signature style.
In the spirit of giving, we handpicked 10 of our favorite items from the different collections that would totally pass as last minute gifts.
Fashion blogger Cecile van Straten’s playfully cheeky Checkbook Holders (P499.75) and nostalgic Clear Pouches (P139) which were inspired by old archival photos of the store. “I wish I could go back in time and shop at the old NBS store in Avenida,” she laments of her design inspiration.
Model Rissa Mananquil-Trillo’s foldable Organizers (P649) and Coin Purses (P199) which combine the serene practice of Japanese paper origami with modern-day functionality.
Artist Patty Eustaquio’s beautifully spare gumamela illustrations which were printed on everyday paper accessories such as Notecards (P209 for a set of 10), Memo Pads (P75), and Gift Wrappers (P99 per roll).
Finally, designer Rajo Laurel’s set of Hardbound Journals (P295), Gel Pens (P99 a set), and Tote Bags (P549) which feature his own ink work and brush strokes. “I wanted something very meditative, almost like a prayer,” Laurel says. “It’s something that’s artfully made and special, something that really came from my hands.”
