It’s Game Face On for Suits Season 8

The legal drama deals with the departure of Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle by shaking things up

By now, you might have heard about this TV show called Suits—you know, the one that’s suddenly gone on to become a footnote in the annals of world history by casting a then-unknown, fresh-faced ingénue named Meghan Markle in a supporting role? Of course, little did the likes of main players Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, and Sarah Rafferty know they had the future Duchess of Sussex sexily smoldering in their midst.

Now that Adams and Markle have both announced their departure from the series and are clearly moving on, all eyes are on Macht and company to see how the remaining stars will forge ahead, minus Mike Ross and Rachel Zane. Turns out the show, in typical Harvey Specter fashion, has got an ace up its sleeve: Katherine Heigl, formerly known as Izzie on Grey’s Anatomy, is joining the cast as Samantha Wheeler, a new lawyer to contend with.

“Joining Suits was the perfect, organic way to not only collaborate with an [executive producer] I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of,” Heigl said. And it’s clear from the get-go that this cutthroat, no-nonsense iron lady is here to shake things up and go toe-to-toe with the rest. Meanwhile, recurring cast members Dulé Hill and Amanda Schull will also be throwing their weight into the mix, taking on more visible roles and dodging the bullets that will no doubt be flying around Specter Litt (most likely starting a few fires of their own, too).

So how will the show fare in a post-Ross and Zane world? Find out when Suits Season 8 premieres on July 19, Thursday via satellite at 1pm, with a primetime telecast at 7pm on Jack TV.
