Swedish sneaker brand Eytys launched their Capsule Collection for Spring/Summer 2018. The main inspiration: French post-impressionist painter Henri Rousseau (1844-1910), known for his unconventional use of color, proportion and perspectives. Although having never left France, Rousseau’s most impressive work illustrate dreamy lush jungles with exotic animals and plants for which he found inspiration from postcards and frequent trips to the Paris Zoo.
Eytys used excerpt from Rousseau’s work to create the mood of the collection. The painting “A Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!)” (1891) is printed on the brand’s OG style ‘Mother’ while bits from the painting “The Repast of the Lion” (1907) is on the new slip-on Viper SO. Also featured in the collection are pairs of the Mother canvas that come in different colorways reminiscent of Rousseau’s use of color in his paintings. The new collection is now available in Hoodwink, SM Aura.
