Arthur Miller & Marilyn Monroe

“If I were nothing but a dumb blonde, he wouldn’t have married me.“ – Marilyn Monroe
The Misfits, the 1961 Western directed by John Huston, was written by Arthur Miller as a Valentine’s gift for Monroe. The film, which also starred Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift promised to showcase the actress’ acting chops. Huston later declared in a 1981 interview that Marilyn was a fine actress, “not an actress in the technical sense, but . . . she had that ability to go down within herself and pull up an emotion and give it.“
Pack Mentality
Beige calf-skin duffel by TOD’s
It’s been repeated over and over again on the pages of Style Guide, yet I can’t seem to emphasize enough the importance of good quality leather duffels. Forget about the supposed “status” that comes with a designer bag–what it really boils down to is an appreciation for clean lines and fantastic use of material. Tod’s is known for subtlety, allowing the natural beauty of the leather to shine through rather than going the usual route of an overbearing logo or repetitive monogram motif. Don’t be afraid of the bag’s pristine beige; what’s great about men’s bags is that they look better slightly beaten and with some signs of ageing.
Brown ‘croc’ duffel by TOD’s
If you already consider yourself a “leather aficionado” of sorts then perhaps you deserve something with a little more sophistication. Try this croc embossed duffel in a superb dark brown–it’s classic yet inherently rich with its exotic texture.
Man About Town

Elton John circa 1969
Before the platform wearing-metallic pant suit days of Crocodile Rock, was a barely recognizable Elton John simplified in blue jeans, ratty tees, and thrifty looking leather coats. This shot taken in 1969 – around the time of the debut of his first record Empty Sky – shows a down-to-earth, more natural side of the now notoriously ostentatious music icon. What the young Elton John lacks in flamboyance, he makes up for in youthful exuberance characteristic of a young artist on the brink of fame.

Star Trek Trailer
I’m not a big Star Trek fan. I’m all about Star Wars (I could do without the prequels), but this latest trailer of J.J. Abrams’ Trek movie is pretty amazing.
I love that Simon Pegg plays Scotty. Spaced is still one of my all time favorite TV shows.
The Godfather Wars

Vanity Fair ran a great piece about the making of a cinematic masterpiece; The Godfather. In addition to that, they have a ‘Web Exclusive’ article about how a real mobster’s family had dinner with the cast and crew. It’s a great read.
You can expect Rogue Online to have ‘web exclusives’ as well in the coming months. I can’t say the same for Mafia-hosted dinners though.
Inflatable Hoodie
I’ve been on that layover in Narita freezing my butt off, while constantly contorting my exhausted body looking for a comfortable position to sleep in. It sucks.
This jacket would have definitely made things easier.

(kudos to the guys sleeping standing up by the way.)

Hello World
It’s been long overdue, but Rogue Magazine Online is finally here. We wanted a website that would exude the same quality and style that grace our magazines. We were meticulous about the design, methodically ironing out bugs, probing every line of code, ‘img src=‘ after every ‘div class=‘ after every ‘a href=‘, until we collectively accomplished what you see in front of you today.
The site is far from perfect (see the red tag next to the Rogue header on top?), and if you run into any bugs that may have slipped through our unmerciful fingers, or even have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact us at .
What’s important right now is that the phenomenal images and articles found in our glossies can now be seen and read on a worldwide scale. Rogue is now poised to take over the world.
So stop reading this and go read the real stuff. Here are a few of my favorites:
-A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Woman
-The Letter I Would Love to Read to You In Person
-The Mantas of Raja Ampat
-The French Connection (For sentimental value, our first cover girl.)
Obama/Optimus Poster
Shephard Fairey and his Obama Poster has turned into a cultural icon. Now, you can rip off Fairey’s design and make your own Obamicon. But this poster of Optimus Prime in place of the POTUS takes the cake. Genius.
