Movie product tie-ins — we’ve seen them all. Some tend to baffle audiences while others blend perfectly with the movie and the target market. Consider the latest offering from Belvedere one of the latter.
Audiences have long been familiar with Bond’s trademark catchphrase, “Vodka martini, shaken not stirred.” However, by branding the vodka, Belvedere finally brings Bond’s signature drink out of the silver screen. Capitalizing on the latest release in the decades-long James Bond film series, Belvedere represents itself as the super-spy’s drink of choice for the first time. Belvedere Vodka President Charles Gibb, speaking on the partnership, credits the Bond character as “the most admired and influential tastemaker in the world.”
To mark the partnership, Belvedere Vodka has launched a special edition Belvedere 007 SPECTRE bottle, as well as a global ad campaign featuring one of the newest film’s Bond girls, Stephanie Sigman. The commercial, directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet, features Sigman ordering Bond’s vodka martini. Rather than having the bartender prepare it in an ordinary fashion, Bardou-Jacquet constructs an intricate Rube Goldberg mechanism that contrasts its grand movements with the martini’s precise, delicate ingredients.
The Belvedere 007 SPECTRE limited edition collectors’ bottle features the famous Bond gun barrel and 007 gun logo in 70cl and 1.75L, and will be available in select retailers in Metro Manila from October to December. SPECTRE opens across Philippine cinemas on November 6.
